Ty Goes to School

Not only did Ty recently turn 5, but 4 days later he is off to Developmental Kindergarten. Like most moms, this was a very hard day for me. It is so hard to believe how "old" he is now and how much he has grown the past 5 years! He did great on his first day of school and we are so proud of him. Ty's favorite things on his first day of school:
1. Recess (go figure);
2. Being able to play with Cousin Carter at Recess; and
3. Resting time (I know! It shocked me, too)

He is such a great kid and we look forward to all that GOd has in store for our family!

It is disgusting how much I love this little boy!!

Thumbs up for the first day of school!

Don't cry. . . . you can do it (I'm talking to myself, not Ty).

We took the kids for some "first day of school slushies."

Ty Turns FIVE!

August 21st was Ty's FIFTH birthday! It is so hard to believe that he is FIVE! He celebrated with a Cowboy Birthday. He and his friends went to the Jester Park Equestrian Center where they were each able to ride a pony. That was a huge hit and the children loved it. Afterwards, we all went into a separate room where all the sheriffs were given water guns for shooting practice. They all took turns shooting empty cans off a ledge. Then each child was given a plastic boot necklace where they were able to fill their boots with layers of colored sand. We then sang Happy Birthday, ate cake and ice cream, opened presents and ended with a Cowboy Boot Pinata! Ty had such a wonderful time and now says he wants to "be a Cowboy for Halloween."

All the Sheriffs!

We ended the fun-filled day with a pinata!

Sheriff Ty had to do shotting practice so he could get Stinky Pete.

Tate rode a horse, too.

Ty loved riding the pony.

All the little Sheriffs!!

If you can't tell, Ty was SO excited about his Cowboy Birthday Party!

He got a motocross helmet for his dirt bike.

Happy Birthday, Ty!!!

Yuck!

This Praying Mantis was just chillin' on our deck. Not two minutes later, I found another one on my water hose! GROSS!!!!!

Kids at Kinnick

We recently went to an event called "Kids at Kinnick" that was (obviously) held at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. We went with our good friends, the Crabbs and their two children. The kids were allowed to enter the stadium and watch an actual Iowa Hawkeyes practice and scrimmage. The boys thought it was pretty cool.
